How to Get Your First 1,000 SoundCloud Followers

October 7, 2026 · 7 min read

The first 1,000 followers are usually the hardest. You don’t have momentum yet, and every follower has to come from someone choosing to hit the button. This guide is about getting there with real people who actually want to hear your next track.

Why not just buy followers?

Bought followers don’t listen. They inflate a number while your plays, likes and comments stay flat, which looks odd to real visitors and gives SoundCloud no useful signal about who your music is for. Real followers are slower to earn but they keep paying off with every release.

Get your profile ready

  • Use a clear profile picture and banner that match your sound.
  • Write a short bio: who you are, what you make, where you’re based.
  • Pin or feature your best track so new visitors hear it first.
  • Link your other socials so fans can follow you everywhere.

Release consistently

Followers follow because they expect more. A steady release rhythm, plus smaller uploads like edits, previews or DJ mixes between bigger releases, gives people a reason to stick around.

Be part of your scene

  • Listen to artists in your genre and leave real comments, not “nice track, check mine.”
  • Repost music you genuinely like. Artists notice and often return the support.
  • Join communities where artists in your genre share and discuss music.
  • Collaborate occasionally. A shared track introduces you to another artist’s followers.

Get your tracks in front of the right listeners

Follows come from people who heard something they liked. The more of the right listeners you reach, the more follows you earn. On CloudKillerz you add tracks to Discover, where members who make similar music see them first, and you earn Cloud Credits by supporting other artists. Those Credits can fund real listens, likes, comments and follows from artist members on your own tracks.

Track what works

Check which tracks bring in the most new followers and where those listeners come from. Double down on what works, whether that’s a certain style, collaborations or a particular community. Don’t compare your timeline to anyone else’s. Steady real growth beats a sudden spike that disappears.
